Permits
Apply for the permits you need to carry out work on site, such as a permit to work, and manage them through to close-out. This guide covers applying for a permit and working through its checklists once approved.
Applying for a Permit
If you have been granted permission to apply for permits, you can create them in the Permits register.
- Go to the Permits register
- Click New
- Choose the permit type
- Fill in the work details:
- Location of the work
- Start and finish dates
- Personnel involved
- Hazards present
- Equipment to be used
- Answer the pre-start checklist questions
- Submit the permit for approval
Your permit starts as a draft. When you submit it, the status moves to pending approval, and the host reviews it. You can edit your own permit while it is still in draft or pending approval.
After Approval
Once the host approves the permit, you take it through the rest of its lifecycle by completing each checklist in turn.
- Activate: complete the pre-start checklist to activate the permit; the status becomes active
- Finish the work: when the work is done, complete the finish checklist; the status becomes completed
- Close out: complete the close-out checklist; the status becomes closed out
Permit Status at a Glance
A permit moves through these stages:
- Draft: being prepared, editable by you
- Pending approval: submitted and awaiting the host
- Active: approved and pre-start checklist completed
- Completed: work finished and finish checklist completed
- Closed out: close-out checklist completed
Public Permit Board
A read-only public permit board is available and can be shared via a QR code, giving people on site visibility of current permits without needing to log in.
What Guests Cannot Do
Approval always sits with the host. Guests cannot:
- Approve or reject permits
- Manage permit types
You also only see permits for your own organisation. Reviewing and approving permit applications is handled by the project host.
