What a register is
A register is the full list of one kind of record on the project, in a table. Each column is a field on the record, and every column can be sorted. The point is that the table itself is the tool: you are not looking at a report someone generated, you are looking at the live records.
Columns and sorting
Show the columns that matter to you and hide the ones that do not. Column choices, widths and sort order are yours rather than the project's, so tidying your view never disturbs anyone else's.
Opening a record
Clicking a row opens the record. Most records open in place with the register still behind them, so working down a list is quick: open, act, close, next. Everything a record carries, its history, its attachments, its approval state, is on that one page rather than scattered.
Selecting, exporting and importing
Tick several rows and the actions that apply to all of them appear. Any register can be exported to a spreadsheet, and several can be bulk imported the same way, which is how most projects get their starting data in rather than typing it.
